The five districts and the three
tourist regions included in the South Central Planning Region supported the
integrated strategy for slow, green and healthy tourism, developed under the
INSiGHTS - Integrated Strategies for Slow, Green and Healthy Tourism.
This
took place during a round table, attended by over 60 participants - deputy
ministers, representatives of various ministries, regional and deputy regional
governors, mayors, representatives of employers' and trade union organizations,
representatives of the three tourism management organizations - Thrace, Valley
of the roses and Rodopi, all Plovdiv universities, RDA BSC SMEs (Regional
Development Agency with Business Support Centre for Small and Medium-sized
Enterprises - Plovdiv), as well as experts from the Regional administrations of
Plovdiv, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Pazardzhik and Haskovo
It
was organized by RDA BSC SMEs (Regional Development Agency with Business
Support Centre for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises - Plovdiv) within the
framework of the project "INSiGHTS - Integrated Strategies for Slow, Green
and Healthy Tourism", co-financed by the Transnational Cooperation Programme
"Danube 2014-2020".
In
the beginning Mr Zdravko Dimitrov - Regional Governor of Plovdiv District welcomed
the participants and wished a fruitful presentation and discussions.
The
focus of the round table was the presentation of the Strategy for Integrated
and Sustainable Tourism of Plovdiv District 2019-2025 by Snezhana Alexandrova,
Head of Coordination and European Integration Department at Regional
Administration Plovdiv, which is an Associate Partner of the project.
The
strategy includes the following four strategic objectives:

Providing conditions for creating a favorable
environment, business and living environment for development of integrated and
sustainable tourism in Plovdiv region;
·
Providing resources (human, financial, information and
material) for the development of integrated and sustainable tourism in Plovdiv
region;
·
Providing conditions for development and management of
specialized and integrated tourism in accordance with the potential of resources in
Plovdiv region;
·
Strengthening the interaction between the participants in
the management and implementation of tourism and promoting interinstitutional
and international cooperation to ensure the development of integrated and
sustainable tourism in Plovdiv region.
The
presentations were followed by lively discussions.
Mrs.
Venelina Chervenkova, a representative of the Ministry of Tourism, expressed her
satisfaction with the implementation of the INSiGHTS project and the developed
Strategy for Integrated and Sustainable Tourism in Plovdiv 2019-2025. She
recommended to develop a plan for the implementation of the Strategy and made
some remarks to Annex 1 of the Strategy.
Ljurozar
Fratev, Chairman of the Management Board of the Trakia Tourism Region
Management Organization, presented the main commitments of the organization and
noted the contribution of the strategic document for the creation of a regional
tourist product and a marketing strategy for tourism development in the tourist
region. He urged all municipalities to
join as members of the three touristic regions Thrace, Rhodope and Valley of the
roses tourist organizations. He expressed their satisfaction with the developed
Strategy for Integrated and Sustainable Tourism in Plovdiv 2019-2025.
Velizar Petrov,
Executive Director of the RDA BSC SMEs, expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful partnership
with the Regional Administration of Plovdiv in the implementation of the
project "INSiGHTS - Integrated Strategies for Slow, Green and Healthy
Tourism" and announced that the active cooperation will continue in order
to implement the following actions in this strategy. He thanked the Ministry of
Regional Development and Public Works, managing authority of all INTERREG
programs, for the opportunities for developing and implementing international
projects, including the Danube Transnational Cooperation Program 2014-2020.
