On April 30, representatives of various stakeholder groups gathered in Hissar Municipality to discuss tourism development, using the opportunities of existing natural and intangible cultural heritage. This took place as part of the implementation of the MYSTICAL DANUBE project: "Green and Mystical Danube Storytelling Route - Transnational Valorisation of Natural and Intangible Cultural Heritage for Socio-Economic Development of Rural Areas in the Danube Region".

Velizar Petrov, Executive Director of the Regional Development Agency with Business Support Center for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, presented the project itself, as well as what has been done so far under it. Radost Ivanova, Executive Director of the Thracian Tourist Region Management Organization, the implementer of project activity 2.2. "Training and Networking of Local Community Stakeholders", presented global and Bulgarian ideas and good practices for the socio-economic development of rural areas and the inclusion of vulnerable groups.

To date, work has been conducted on mapping, collecting, and analysing natural and related intangible cultural heritage, as well as best practices, in the rural and less-visited areas of the project. Training and discussions are successfully combined to analyse the situation as a basis for developing the capacity and potential of the region and stakeholder groups.

More events are coming up in settlements of the Plovdiv Region under this project with the active assistance of the Thracian Tourist Region Management Organization and the Regional Information Center – Plovdiv, which is part of the network of 27 information centres in the country for the promotion of the Cohesion Policy of the European Union.

The MYSTICAL DANUBE project: "GREEN AND MYSTIC DANUBE ROUTE FOR STORIES TELL - TRANSNATIONAL VALORIZATION OF NATURAL AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL AREAS IN THE DANUBE REGION" is funded by the INTERREG Danube Transnational program. The Bulgarian partner in the project is the Regional Development Agency with Business Support Center for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, and the associated partner is the Plovdiv Regional Administration.
