On 22 September 2025, from 09:00 to 13:00, an international seminar was held at the Ministry of Tourism in Bucharest, Romania, as part of the implementation of the project “MYSTICAL DANUBE”, co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-B Danube Region Programme 2021–2027. The event brought together stakeholders from Romania and Bulgaria to exchange ideas and strengthen cooperation in the field of sustainable tourism and cultural heritage.
The Bulgarian partner in the project is the Regional Development Agency with Business Support Centre for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises – Plovdiv (RDA BSC SME), while the Romanian partner is the Ministry of Tourism of Romania. The project is implemented in partnership with organisations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary, Croatia, and Montenegro.
The Bulgarian delegation, led by Mr Velizar Petrov, Executive Director of RDA BSC SME, included representatives of municipalities and the tourism business sector. During the seminar, the Bulgarian participants engaged in a brainstorming session to define the national strategy for the Green and Mystical Danube Storytelling Route, contributing valuable perspectives to the transnational dialogue.
The meeting proved highly useful and successful, providing a platform for consultation on the realization of the Transnational Strategy for the valorisation of intangible cultural and natural heritage in rural and less visited areas of the Danube Region. The active involvement of the Bulgarian group highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation in developing innovative and sustainable tourism products that preserve and promote the unique cultural and natural assets of the Danube Region.
