The progress achieved thus far under
the MYSTICAL DANUBE project was presented by Mr Velizar Petrov, Executive
Director of the Regional Development Agency with Business Support Centre for Small and Medium-sized
Enterprises, during a joint session of the Standing Committee on Social Policy
of the District Development Council of Plovdiv Region and the Regional Council
for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The meeting took place on 14
October 2025 at the Plovdiv Regional Administration.
The topic served as a natural
continuation of the previously shared summary of regional-level findings from
the employer survey on labour force needs in Plovdiv Region for 2025, conducted
in accordance with the Employment Promotion Act and its implementing
regulations.
To date, the project has delivered a
number of key activities, including:
·
Comprehensive analysis and mapping of the natural
and intangible cultural heritage in rural and less-visited areas of Plovdiv
Region.
·
Identification and evaluation of good practices from
the region, with potential for adaptation and replication.
·
Completion of a SWOT analysis to underpin strategic
planning efforts.
·
Initiation of the strategy development process for
the route, including the articulation of a shared vision and core objectives.
·
Organisation of training sessions, seminars and
focus groups with stakeholders from Plovdiv Region, as well as in partner
countries – notably participation in a seminar hosted by the Ministry of
Tourism in Romania.
·
Exchange of experience with partners from Čakovec,
Croatia, focusing on the valorisation of cultural heritage.
·
Development of a map of the Danube tourist route,
featuring key contact points and supplementary sites with tourism potential –
such as the Enchanted Forest in Vinitsa, the Thracian cult complex of Maltepe
in Maritsa Municipality, and the legend of Mavrud and Khan Kubrat, which links
to the region’s wine tourism trails.
The MYSTICAL DANUBE project:
"GREEN AND MYSTIC DANUBE ROUTE FOR STORIES TELL - TRANSNATIONAL
VALORIZATION OF NATURAL AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC
